`LIMBE INHABITANTS BID FAREWELL TO MAYOR ISAAC INONGO DALLE OF BIMBIA

By Cecilia Musaka in Limbe for Fako UK/Fako News Centre

On Saturday August 9th 2014, the inhabitants of Limbe expressed their condolence and last farewell to the mayor of Limbe III (Bimbia), Isaac Inongo, who died last month.

He died at the tender age of 39. He was voted in as first Deputy Mayor for Limbe III council and became mayor last year after the municipal and parliamentary elections. Isaac Dalle was also part of the official delegation that launched the 2014 Limbe City Inter Quarters Competition on June 21 at the Limbe Centenary Stadium Dalle and he looked very strong. According to family sources, Dalle complained of chest pains and was rushed to Douala for medical attention. He died on Thursday July 3 at 1:30 PM after spending hours under an oxygen tent at the Limbe Regional Hospital. News of his death sent the city into chaos as the mortuary was thronged by people of all walks of life though the majority of them were politicians and members of the CPDM. The Section President and Government Delegate, Motanga Andrew Monjimba, was very shocked with the situation especially since he is said to have been the one facilitating his treatment.

His wake keeping was held yesterday August 8th at Church Street in Limbe and was jammed-packed with dignitaries and he will be buried in New Town.

Installation of Fako Division Mayors Is Now Complete

By Ferdinand Efome for Fako UK/Fako News Centre
27 November 2013

Limbe I

The installation of Mayors and their deputies in Fako Division has come to an end. The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako Division, Zang III, installed the mayor of Limbe I, Mbua Rodanny Mokako, and his deputies, on Monday November 25th , 2013.
This installation took place during the late hours of the day. The SDO had earlier been to Limbe III to install the mayor there and his two deputies. One of the assignments the SDO for Fako Division gave to the mayor of Limbe I and his team was to work for the interest of the Limbe I community.
The SDO also called on the new mayor who has served as interim Mayor after his predecessor, Daniel Matute, was elected to  parliament as senator to bring unity among his councillors for a better realisation of their projects.

Limbe III (BIMBIA)

The installation of the mayor of Limbe III, Isaac Inongo Dalle, took another twist. One of the elites who read out the welcoming address during his installation ceremony, pleaded with the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako Division, Mr. Zang III, to fight against the indiscriminate sale of land.
While making his address, the elite explained that those who orchestrate the sales of land are most chiefs who are expected to protect the culture and customs of the people. According to him, they have resulted to sell even places considered sacred to the indigenous people.
While installing the new mayor in the mid hours of Monday November 25, 2013, Mr. Zang III, remarked that the sales of land in Fako Division is actually a serious problem that need special attention. He even went further to remind the new mayor, Mr. Dalle, to ensure that he resides in Bimbia where the Council is located so that he can better be placed to inform hierarchy of such problems as an elite and as a mayor of Limbe III. Previous mayors had lived out of Limbe III and it has retarded development in this area since they are hardly there to manage the affairs of the municipality.
While Limbe III chiefs prayed for the ancestors to guide their son, the new mayor, during his term of office, other elites presented a copy of the Holy Bible to him as the instrument that will give him the inspiration to succeed in his mission.

The ‘Linyangi La Nganya’, a sacred group by Bakweri men from Bova II and another from Mokunda Mo Mbenge, all answered present to salute their brother.
The Senior Divisional Officer for Fako Division, Zang III, prayed the new mayor to work together with his councillors so that they can identify the needs of the inhabitants of the municipality and look for common solutions.

FULL ELECTION RESULTS OF THE 2013 PARLIAMENTARY AND MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN BUEA, TIKO, MUYUKA, LIMBE I, II AND III, AND IDENAU

By Ferdinand Efome in Buea for Fako UK/Fako News Centre

Results of the 30th September 2013 elections of parliamentary and municipal councillors in Cameroon have been declared. Keeping with section 193 of the electoral code, respective Council Supervisory Commissions had within 72 hours following the closing of the polls to declare the results in the electoral constituency concerned.

In the South West Region, the Cameroon’s People Democratic movement (CPDM) won 26 of the 31 Municipal Councils with more than 50.01% of the votes, while the Social Democratic Front (SDF) won only two Councils (Kumba II and Tiko Councils) with an absolute majority of the votes.

The remaining three councils Kumba I, Kumba III and Mbonge) all in Meme Division have been shared among the SDF, CPDM and ANDP. Yet, the SDF has majority of the seats in Kumba I and Kumba III because they got the majority of the votes while the CPDM has most of the seats in the Mbonge Council.

The Buea Municipal Council elections results were declared on Wednesday the 2nd of October 2013 in the presence of political parties that participated in the elections, members of the press and other election stakeholders.

The SDF representatives accepted the results but claimed that the CPDM used money to corrupt electors. For the first time since the return of multiparty politics in Cameroon, the CPDM won elections in Bwiyuku (Tole), Lower Bolifamba (Mile 16) and most of the cosmopolitan neighbourhoods within Buea subdivision that have been the stronghold of opposition.

The CPDM claimed that their victory was thanks to the quality of candidates they selected as councillors from respective neighbourhoods and their manifesto. The electoral code provides that the councillors in each council shall proceed to elect their mayors on the day of the first session which shall hold on the second Tuesday following the proclamation of the results.

Though the Municipal elections and that for the National Assembly (parliament) were organised on the same date, there are different procedures leading to the proclamation of both results. According to section 168 of the electoral code, it is the supreme court sitting in for the Constitutional Council that will declare the National Assembly election results.

They have a maximum of 20 days with effect from the date of closure of polls to declare the results after treating proceedings forwarded from the Divisional Supervisory Commission.
