Two Major BONAVADA Holiday Inter-quarter Football Competitions come to an end in Bonakanda, Bokova

The finals of two major holiday inter-quarter football competitions organised in Bokova and Bonakanda, villages in the BONAVADA community were played on Sunday 21 August and Sunday 28 August, 2016, respectively.
The finals of the BONAVADA Soccer Tournament organised by Martin Yangange Musonge and partners in Bonakanda pitted Bova United Strikers versus ‘The Whole Place” FC of Bwiteva was watched by football supporters drawn from all villages in the community and beyond.
After a very uninspiring performance from both teams during the first 45minutes of play, ‘The Whole Place’ FC of Bwiteva got the opener through Tabe Simplice who scored a few seconds before the referee sounded his whistle to end the first half of the game.
Skipper Njoh Emmanuel of ‘The Whole Place’ FC extended the advantage after benefitting from a defensive error committed by the Bova team to score at 15 minutes upon resumption of the second half of play. The god of football seemed to have frowned on the Bova side as they were being dominated in all aspects of the game with Njoh Emmanuel increasing the goal margin by scoring a few seconds to the end of the match. The match ended 3-0 in favor of ‘The Whole Place’ FC from Bwiteva.
At the end of the finals, the winning team, ‘The Whole Place’ FC took home FCFA 100,000 while Bova United Strikers has FCFA 70,000. Other prizes were awarded to players with outstanding skills.
Whereas, the final of the 4th Edition of Bonavada Youths Football for Health Tournament organized in Bokova took place a week before. The final stage of the competition witnessed the finals of both female and male categories.
In the female category, Cambodia ladies FC from Bokwai logged horns with Wanda Girls FC from Bova. The match ended after a penalty shoot-out in favour of Cambodia ladies FC from Bokwai.
In the male category, “Les Anciens Combattant” FC of Upper Bokova village beat “Okada” FC (bike riders) by 2-0 in a highly competitive encounter. The winners of the male and female category took home the some of FCFA 100,000 and FCFA 50,000 respectively. The second placed teams in both categories also took home the cash prize of FCFA 50,000 and FCFA 25,000 respectively.
The league champions of the male and female categories also went home with FCFA 50,000 and FCFA 25,000 respectively. The Mayor of the Buea Council, Patrick Esunge Ekema was present at the finals in Bokova and he honoured the male and female champions with FCFA 25,000 each.
